Man on the Moon

watched Man on the Moon, the biopic of Andy Kaufman, which I really enjoyed. I never realised Kaufman pushed the boundaries so far, really playing with what is real and what is staged. Having watched him doing the sketches and performances now, I think the film made them out to be more believable, less obviously staged than they really were, but I still respect the guy a lot for the risks he took. Jim Carrey wasn’t perfect, needing to reign his over-the-top persona in a little more to be Kaufman, who was altogether subtler, but I have to say I find Carrey’s version of the Mighty Mouse sketch rather funnier than I do when Kaufman does it.
