The Bourne Ultimatum
The Bourne Ultimatum was pretty terrible, though. It tried so hard to be gritty and realistic, but failed entirely. The details were good – you can really believe in the operations rooms and the jargon – but all the old James Bond clichés were there, from everyone just happening to get the same clues at the same time (including one totally risible moment where Bourne pulls out one scrap of burnt paper from a briefcase – with the address he needs on it) and agents that you decided to spare earlier just happening to be the ones who have you at gunpoint later on. And brainwashing? The concept has become so overused that presenting it in scant detail and obviously, as they do here, just makes it look childish. That’s not even mentioning the fact that the camera had to be shaking in every single shot, even zooms of documents. It looked daft
